"Here's a sad story for ya: I asked my brother, age 65, 'When're you going to retire?' 'Can't afford to.'"
"Shit. What'd you say?"
"Shit! What *can* you say?!"
"Even though he knows what you've accomplished?"
"Fuck man I think most people don't have curiosity, or will."
Just spoke with a Finatic I worked with in 2021. She swears like a charming Kiwi sailor and she's stepped confidently into semi-retirement at 52 because of fact-based faith in her ability to multiply her family's net worth, in perpetuity, in a post-revenue environment.
(This is, to be clear, the most important ingredient in expediting or safeguarding retirement, and a far more peaceful situation than amassing heaps of money that you feel clueless about managing or terrified to risk.)
The problem, in her view? "Say the word 'Money' and people look at you like you're speaking another language. Say the word 'Invest' and people claim they don't have time."
I've left that conversation at an all-time high in curiosity: If someone has time to work full-time, if they have bonus time to complain to loved ones of their stuckness, if they have done this dance for 40+ years, and if they truly want to arrive at the ability to live without their income... why would they not have time to figure out where all of that money & all of that effort –– their entire life's work, financially & energetically –– is flowing?
