Focus Investing (Or: Why Concentration Destroys Diversification for Amateur Investors)

Dear Finatics, here are two appearances I recently made on The NZ Everyday Investor (one of New Zealand’s leading finance podcasts):

The first is a “concentration vs. diversification” debate, the second is a deep dive about why concentrating your investments (aka Focus Investing) destroys diversification for at least 7 major reasons if your most desired outcome is “I work because I want to, not because I have to… and there’s no way I will outlive my money.”

“Stock picking is gambling and beating the market is impossible, so you need to hire a professional or, if you can’t afford one, at least diversify” is probably the least-accurate and least-challenged assumption in the world of amateur investing… so I hope you listen to both episodes with an open mind.

If this debate & deep dive speak to you – and you’re now feeling determined to upgrade from mindlessly “diworseifying” to confidently focusing – click here & let’s roll 🍣.

If you can’t/won’t wrap your head around my argument, I do not begrudge you whatsoever (though I’ve got to thank you, with a humble bow, because you are part of why winning at investing will always be a cakewalk for me & my Finatics).
