"Say hello to iCod. 1,000 stocks. In your pocket."

Prior to this course I was remarkably ill-suited to choose my own investments... In the past two years my Fat Fish portfolio has gone up by 150% and more than $200,000. I know it’s not about the short-term, but my investments are making me more than my actual job is and that feels pretty badass.

"Diamonds Charr Forever"

Find Fat Fish compelled me to invest in Amazon and Netflix back in 2010. I turned my first investment into my wife’s wedding ring, and the AMZN and NFLX I’ve got left are up more than 1,400% and 3,700%!

Book Review:

12 Steps to Your First Stock: How to Turn 1 Month of Expenses into 1 Year of Freedom

Featured in Kirkus Reviews 4/15/17 Issue

  "Carp Diem"

"Carp Diem"

A beginner’s guide to investing in the stock market.

Debut author Hauptfuhrer offers a brief, accessible personal-finance tutorial designed for the first-time investor who has no knowledge of the field. Specifically, he offers counsel for long-term speculation, with the goal of transforming an amount of money that could pay for a month’s worth of expenses into a year’s worth. To that end, he advises the reader to think like a committed consumer and identify a product “addiction”—a purchasable item that he or she consistently, repeatedly buys—and then consider investing in the company that makes that product. He then lays out the basics for assessing the company’s future prospects for success, analyzing everything from its current profitability to the strength of its CEO. For a long-ball investor, he says, the point is to buy and hold, studiously refraining from micromanaging one’s stock holdings. This “stupidly simple strategy maximizes dollars-per-hour while minimizing taxes, fees, and stress,” he writes, effectively highlighting the strength of amateur investing, which is having the luxury of patience. Indeed, the whole point is to do as little as possible, so there’s no real incentive to hire a professional brokerage house or seek out costly consultants. The author describes specific companies that have proven to be successful picks and candidly discusses his failures, as well. This very brief work comes in at less than 50 pages, so it’s more like a pamphlet than a full-length monograph. The entire text is written in a very breezy, conversational style and presented with the aesthetics of a comic book, replete with cartoonish illustrations, which makes it an enjoyable read. Its message is clear and well-organized, and it provides immediately actionable instruction. Some of it is more philosophical than financial; Hauptfuhrer points out, for instance, that a successful long-term investor has to learn to trust his instincts—or “fact-based faith”—and resist the fear of short-term losses and the allure of quick windfalls. Overall, this is a sound, unpretentious primer for beginners.

Motivated by the arrival of his offspring, Jerome enrolled in Find Fat Fish's Your First Stock® workshop and went from feeling petrified to building his own portfolio in six weeks.

This Fat Fish portfolio rose more than 150% during Jerome's first two years as an investor, for reasons Jerome explained beforehand and will exploit moving forward. His money and mindset have transformed as he does things as a part-timer, and an outsider, that most professional investors (who average less than 10% each year) assume to be impossible. If a full-time professional with a wife and three kids—and no finance background—can do this, so can you. No one is too busy. No one is too uneducated. ("If you can handle your emotions, you are smart enough to Fat Fish," says Jerome.) You've got this if you want it. The only question is: Will you follow Jerome's lead and find a lifetime's worth of assets in six weeks, then make more than $200,000 (and counting) by mostly doing nothing?

I’m doing everything you’re ‘supposed’ to do: I have a steady income and take full advantage of my 401K options, but after my kids were born I wanted to take a more active role in my investments.

After assessing my assets I put aside a measured sum to enroll in the Find Fat Fish program and jump into a world of investments that I previously lacked the knowledge to navigate. After six weeks of classes I was able to identify a portfolio of companies that I enjoy as a consumer and believe in as an investor.

Prior to this course I was remarkably ill-suited to choose my own investments. I now possess the skills to review the financial statements and make a judgement about the overall health of a company.

It is important to highlight what this course is and is not. I have used other investment tools/newsletters before. Those other services mostly consisted of picks that someone else had made along with their explanation as to why you should buy their pick. Find Fat Fish actually teaches you how to assess and make a pick of your own. If you want to be hand-fed picks that you don’t have any attachment to other than someone saying they’re good, then this Your First Stock workshop may not be the class for you. However, if you want to learn how to assess a company and make your own conviction picks, then this is where you need to go.

What started as a guided tour through a single company very quickly turned into me learning how to assess the overall health, direction, and potential of the businesses that are connected to my first investment. The course was very informative and it was a huge step forward in my understanding of the stock market and my developing portfolio.

I enjoyed that the course was a review of companies that I come in contact with on a daily basis. By researching companies in areas I was interested in, I am now well on my way to creating a portfolio based on successful companies in the areas I personally find fascinating.

Cole was a great guide through the process as he took the time to understand my interests and help flush out companies through the useful tools he created. Overall, it was a productive course and I look forward to working with him in the future. I would highly recommend Find Fat Fish to others looking to take ownership of their investments.

In the past two years my Fat Fish portfolio has gone up by 150% and more than $200,000. I know it’s not about the short-term, but my investments are making me more than my actual job is and that feels pretty badass.

UPDATE: Just checking in. Today was a crazy day. My account went up dramatically... some of it was speculative with acquisition talk, but having your account grow over 6 grand in 24 hours is always exciting.

UPDATE: Boo-yah! I just had a $17,000 morning!

UPDATE: At the end of the day, I just popped another 17Gs. Totally insane.
